Ange-Raïssa Irakoze is a 5th year student in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Burundi. After winning the national phase of the “MY IDEA MY BUSINESS” competition organized by the University Agency of the Francophonie AUF with her project to manufacture ecological neonatal incubators, Ange-Raïssa Irakoze brilliantly represented Burundi in Angola during the final, June 14, 2024, interregional phase from June 11 to 15, 2024 where 19 countries were represented.
This medical student had the opportunity to follow training on climate change, public speaking and pitching, which allowed her to give an excellent performance. Her innovation was rewarded with the prize for best female innovation, a well-deserved recognition for this Burundian talent. “Winning the Best Female Innovation award is incredible recognition for my hard work and commitment to developing innovative solutions for my country. This distinction will allow me to gain visibility and credibility, which will facilitate the realization of my project of ecological neonatal incubators and will open up new funding and partnership opportunities for me,” she confides with great pride.
Ange-Raïssa Irakoze says she is satisfied and wants to continue to shine the colors of Burundi on the international scene. “I feel very called to take yet another step forward to have an inspiring journey and career in healthcare”, she says.
“I am sure that believing in my dreams will open up other horizons for me and that pushing forward will help me accomplish great things,” she refutes.
