Fleury Minani, also known as Mutima the Comedian, is a well-known artist in Burundi’s entertainment world. Recently, he decided to leave comedy behind and start a new career in farming. He founded an agricultural business called “Isi y’akanovera”, which means “Soil of Sweetness.”

Mutima is famous for making people laugh, but his new journey in farming shows his strong connection to the land and his desire to give back to his community. “The life of a farmer is difficult, and if you appreciate my work, it will be the greatest support you could offer me,” says Mutima. He recognizes that farming requires hard work and dedication, something very different from his life as a comedian.

“Isi y’akanovera”, which is the name of his farming business, reflects Mutima’s personal values. The name symbolizes the rewards that come after hard work and patience, values he wants to share with others. Mutima hopes that young people in  Burundi will be inspired to take up farming as a career, just as he has found a way to combine his love for comedy with farming.

While it may seem surprising for a comedian to switch to farming, Mutima’s story shows that people can adapt and succeed in many different areas. His decision to try something new is an example of his ability to face challenges head-on, whether on stage or in the field. Mutima’s story can inspire anyone who is thinking about changing careers or looking for ways to make a positive impact in their community.

Farming plays an important role in Burundi’s economy, and by starting his agricultural business, Mutima is not only building a new career for himself but also helping to support local food production and potentially create jobs. This effort is especially important at a time when self-sufficiency and sustainability in food production are becoming more critical.

As Mutima the Comedian enters this new phase of his life, he continues to teach the value of hard work, whether it’s in comedy or farming. For his supporters, the best way to show their appreciation is by recognizing the importance of his new work, both on the stage and in the fields.
