A delegation of Burundian officials, led by the Director of the Office for Mining Development, Quesnay de Jésus Akabahinga, participated in the U.S. Critical Mineral Roadshow in Washington, D.C., from February 20 to 21, 2025. He was joined by the Ambassador of Burundi to the United States, Burundi Embassy USA, Bosco Barege, and Alain Ndikumana, Chief Advisor at Ntare House Palace responsible for development projects.
The event was organized by the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, a U.S. government agency focused on global investment and development. Discussions centered on collaboration for the extraction of minerals found in Burundi, essential to global industries.
The delegation also explored sustainable mining technologies and large-scale international projects. Notably, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation is already involved in Burundi, supporting electricity and other key development initiatives.
